Spazio Sorelle Sent – Fondamenta Serenella 20 – 30141 Murano Venezia
An event organized by the Vetri di Laguna Committee, in collaboration with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
The exhibition, divided into two locations, intends to explore the theme of engraved glass.
The project includes a double exhibition: in Venice at the Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo, and in Murano, at the Spazio Sorelle Sent.
In the Marina and Susanna Sent space in Murano are presented only glass artworks produced exclusively in the island of the Lagoon over the course of a century and, specifically, from the 1930s to the present day. The works were firstly chosen by considering the different processing techniques, that range from wheel engraving, acid etching, sandblasting, cameo processing, grinding, to other types of experimental and innovative processes.Secondly, it was intended to represent creative periods for each decade, starting from the 1930s with Carlo Scarpa, to reach nowadays with unique pieces such as the work of Matteo Segusoand the works of designers, created specifically for this event, asMaria Grazia Rosin, Maria Cristina Hamel, and Silvia Levenson. The series of refined engravings by the Salir company and its artists, the unique pieces and prototypes by Toni Zuccheri and the monumental glass “Simirone” by Alessandro Mendini with a sculpted crystal base are inserted between these two extremes. Furthermore, there will be the geometric hollowed-out pieces by Carlo Moretti, the unique artworks by Giampaolo Martinuzzi, engraved with a nail or freehand, the grounded works by CristianoBianchin. Finally, the very special works by Susanna Sent who has transformed the initial glass work in a sort of embroiderythough sandblasting.
